School bomb threat leads charges against 2 boys

BUTLER TWP — Two Butler boys have been charged in connection with last week’s bomb threat at the Butler Intermediate High School.

Butler Township police did not identify the students, both 15 years old, who are charged in Butler County juvenile court with terroristic threats, conspiracy and disorderly conduct.

The charges culminated a joint investigation by police and the Butler School District that began after a written bomb threat at the intermediate high school was discovered in a student bathroom around 11:30 a.m. Feb. 7.

The threat caused the school to be evacuated and students eventually were dismissed for the day.

Another student came upon the threat, which had that day’s date and a time included, and immediately reported it to school administrators, authorities said.

Bomb-sniffing dogs were used to sweep the building but no explosives were found
