Butler track setting records

The Butler girls indoor track and field team’s 4x400-meter relay team of Shana Hoy, Liz Simms, Maddie Tonini and Alexis Leech set a school record of four minutes, 5.49 seconds in a first-place finish at the Tri-State Track Coaches Association meet Saturday at Edinboro University.

The effort shattered the previous standard by 2.72 seconds.

Maggie Welty broke the school record in the 1,600 run with a second-place time of 5:25.03.

Simms also won the 800 run at 2:26.18 while the 800 relay quartet of Savannah Miller, Maegan Emanuel, Maddie Glew and Shana Hoy placed first with a time of 1:51.52.

Freeport closed the regular season with a 55-32 loss to Hampton in a game played at Shady Side Academy.

Jenna Manke’s 11 points paced the playoff-bound Yellowjackets (13-9).
