Feb. 6 — An unknown suspect overnight broke into at least two vehicles at a man's home in Summit Township. A police report did not say if anything was stolen.Police said they believe the incident is connected to other thefts in the area. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.Feb. 3 — A cross-country case of identity theft that started in Butler County last month is under investigation. The unknown thief used the credit card of a 65-year-old Summit Township man to make three transactions in Orange County, Calif.The theft happened between Jan. 2 and 9.1:55 a.m. Feb. 1 — Police are investigating the apparent overdose death of Raeanne Meyerl, 53, at her home on Pearl Avenue in Mars. Meyerl's boyfriend found her dead and notified authorities.The death, a police report said, is a suspected heroin overdose.Feb. 1 — Kenneth J. Kastelic III, 24, of Clay Township was charged with driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol in connection with a year-end, one-vehicle wreck in Concord Township.Police said Kastelic lost control of his sport utility vehicle about 6:20 p.m. Dec. 29 and hit an embankment on Hooker Road. A search of the suspect turned up a small bag of marijuana and two marijuana pipes, according to court documents.He showed signs of being intoxicated and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, which subsequently revealed the presence of cocaine and marijuana in his system.Kastelic is charged with driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol, possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, disregarding traffic lanes and not wearing a seat belt.Feb. 1 — Police charged Kyle R. Williams, 24, of Slippery Rock with drunken driving stemming from a traffic stop last month in Slippery Rock. Troopers pulled over the suspect about 12:45 a.m. Jan. 16 for running a flashing red light at Kelly Boulevard and Grove City Road.The odor of alcohol led police to suspect he had been drinking, which he admitted doing, according to court documents. He subsequently was arrested after failing field sobriety tests.A breath test later showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.134 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.Williams is charged with DUI, disregarding a flashing red light, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving a vehicle with suspended registration, driving without insurance, driving without valid insurance and careless driving.<h3>State Police, Kittanning</h3>1:17 a.m. Sunday — A 24-year-old Saxonburg man was arrested for suspected drugged driving on Route 28 north in O'Hara Township, Allegheny County. Police also seized 375 empty stamp bags of suspected heroin and other contraband following the traffic stop.Police did not identify the driver. Charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia charges, they said, are pending lab results.Also found on the suspect or in his car were one full and two empty strips of Suboxone, for which he did not have a prescription; two marijuana pipes; and drug packaging materials.12:26 p.m. Saturday — A Clearfield County man was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs on Route 28 south just south of exit 18 in South Buffalo Township.John Crossen, 34, of Woodland also was found with a glass jar containing suspected marijuana, a glass jar containing suspected methamphetamine, a drug smoking pipe, multiple pills and $1,169 in currency.In addition to drugged driving, police said, Crossen is facing drug possession and drug paraphernalia charges, pending results of lab tests.4:30 a.m. Saturday — Douglas A. Gaspersic, 47, of Freeport was arrested after he allegedly pointed a gun at a 44-year-old woman on Main Street in Freeport. The victim, also from Freeport, was not hurt.Gaspersic, who is charged with simple assault, was placed in the Armstrong County Jail.1:58 a.m. Saturday — A 42-year-old Sarver man, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of DUI on Route 28 north about one mile south of exit 14 in Tarentum, Allegheny County.3:30 a.m. Friday — An unknown vandal or vandals threw frozen water bottles at a 36-year-old East Brady man's car on Route 68 in Bradys Bend Township. The vehicle sustained unspecified damage. Police said their investigation is ongoing.<h3>State Police, Franklin</h3>Saturday — An enclosed trailer reportedly stolen from a home on Kunselman Drive in Irwin Township was found on Dog Hollow Road. Missing from the trailer, which was stolen between Jan. 1 and Saturday, were assorted construction tools.Anyone with information is asked to call police 814-676-6596.<h3>State Police, New Castle</h3>Feb. 3 — Police reported they are investigating the theft of guns, wine and money in a burglary last month at a home in Plain Grove Township. The break-in happened between 6 and 11:30 a.m. Jan. 24 at the house on Rodgers Road.Stolen were several guns, 10 bottles of wine and a bottle of coins. The property, owned by a 48-year-old man, is valued at $3,525.<h3>State Police, Punxsutawney</h3>Friday — The state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement cited the Vin-Joe Inn in Summit Township for allegedly violating the state liquor law Dec. 17 by serving alcohol between 2 and 7 a.m.An administrative law judge will hear the case.
