Butler girls defeated, 62-51

Tornado bowling completes perfect regular season

Jenna Kunst scored 20 points, but the Butler girls basketball team fell at St. Joseph, 62-51, Wednesday night.

The Golden Tornado were outscored 19-4 in the third quarter to sink their chances.

Kunst scored 10 of her points in the second quarter as Butler and St. Joseph played to a 25-25 tie in the first half.

Alex Jones scored 21 points to pace St. Joseph (14-8).

Kylee Lewandowski added nine points for the Golden Tornado (10-10), who have now lost five in a row.

Butler plays at Hampton Monday night.

Penn-Trafford 45, Seneca Valley 32 — Michaela Lamont scored 12 points to lead the Raiders in this non-section loss.

Seneca Valley, which qualified for the WPIAL 6A playoffs, finished the regular season at 9-13.

Bowling

The Butler boys and girls bowling teams both completed a perfect regular season with 7-0 sweeps of Shaler Wednesday night.

Both teams are 10-0.

Senior Nick Huff rolled a 625 series and had a high game of 278 for the Golden Tornado boys. Huff closed the season with the top average in the North Section of the WPIBL with a 196.

Freshman Chris Huff had a 591 series and a high game of 232. Ed Augustine had a high game of 225.

The Butler boys won all 10 of their matches 7-0.

Sophomore Jordyn Graham led the Tornado girls with a 601 series and a high game of 222. Ashley McCue added a 189 high game.

Both Butler teams will next compete in the WPIBL team championships next week.

The Butler boys will be at Nesbit Lanes in Plum Wednesday while the girls will be at Hillview Lanes in Greensburg Thursday.
