Borough council on Monday:

Heard resident Sally Morgan ask to be reimbursed for half of the $3,200 cost she incurred in having four or five large trees removed at the behest of her homeowners insurance company. Morgan said she thinks the trees may have been on borough and county property. Council President Lee Dyer said the public works department will measure the alley where the trees were removed to determine whose property they were on.

Agreed to approve a $10,000 County Parks and Recreation grant for EDCO Park that requires a 25 percent match by the borough. EDCO Park Authority member Cindy Caldwell said the EDCO Foundation would pay the borough’s share. The grant will pay to refurbish the handicapped parking space at the park and place a railing on a sidewalk leading to the pool that will make the pool compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Heard EDCO Park Authority President John Rogers announce that Paula Purvis would be added to the authority’s board of directors.

Heard solicitor Sean Gallagher announce that the Evans City Water and Sewer Authority will pay to refinance the loan it took out when it seceded from the borough a number of years ago. The refinancing is being pursued to get a more favorable interest rate for the authority. The borough was required to approve the refinancing because the council guaranteed the original loan.
