Raiders stun Pine-Richland

SV hands Rams first loss of the season

Patrick Uher scored 14 points as the Seneca Valley boys basketball team pulled off a 70-56 upset win over previously unbeaten Pine-Richland Friday night.

The Raiders (12-8, 5-5) trailed 20-12 after the first quarter and 31-28 at the half before launching their second-half rally.

Seneca Valley took a two-point lead into the fourth quarter and cruised to the big Section 1-6A win.

The Rams (19-1, 9-1) are still in control of the section.

Moniteau 59, Keystone 52 (OT) — Lake Pry hit a deep 3-pointer to send the game to overtime and then Josh Adamson hit four big free throws in the extra frame to lead the Warriors to this upset win.

Pry finished with 18 points. Jake Jewart added 13 points and Ethan McDeavitt added 11 for Moniteau.

Grove City 50, Farrell 29 — Logan Lutz scored 19 points as the Eagles clinched the District 10 Region 5-4A title.

Grove City's defense was strong again, holding the Steelers to just nine first-half points.

Karns City 57, Union 52 — Noah Pollock scored 13 points as the Gremlins outlasted the Golden Knights.

Lucas Bowser scored 28 points to lead Union and Kyle Montgomery added 12 for the Knights.

Eric Dodd pitched in 10 points for Karns City (13-5).

The Gremlins will travel to Moniteau to take on the rival Warriors Wednesday.

Karns City will also travel to Keystone for a makeup of a postponed game Feb. 13.

Sharon 58, Slippery Rock 42 — Nick Wherthy scored 11 points and Ryan Dutton added 10 points to pace the Rockets.

Chartiers Valley 69, Knoch 50 — The Knights were eliminated from playoff contention.

No other information was available.

Summit Academy 82, Riverview 48 — Omar Coker scored 21 points to lead the Knights.

Tyler Harrison added 18 points and Tyree Thomas 14 for Summit Academy (8-10, 7-4).

Girls Basketball

Kristina DeMatteis scored 26 points as Moniteau overcame a slow start to oust Keystone, 64-37.

The Warriors trailed 9-8 after one quarter, but outscored Keystone 21-8 in the second to pull away.

Sara Hull added 14 points.

DeMatteis added 10 rebounds, four steals and four assists for Moniteau.

Alazia Greaves was held to seven points, but also added 10 rebounds for the Warriors. Greaves entered the game needing 15 points for 1,000 and will enter Tuesday's showdown with Karns City needing seven for the milestone.

Karns City 62, Union 23 — Mackenzie Craig scored 23 points as the Gremlins jumped out to a big early lead on Union and cruised.

Emily Hegedus added 17 points for Karns City (13-5).

Frankee Remmick scored nine to lead Union.

Lexey Shick reached 1,000 career points for the Damsels. She is the 13th player in Union history to reach the milestone.

A-C Valley 47, Redbank Valley 42 — Annie Viertel scored 16 points and Cami McNany added 14 as the Falcons pulled away in the third quarter for a win.

Kylee Eaton added nine rebounds for A-C Valley (11-6), which used an 18-9 advantage in the third quarter to hold off Redbank.

A-C Valley played without leading scorer Ellie Thompson, who was out due to illness.
