Butler indoor track sets more records

Butler turned in several memorable performances at Saturday’s Tri-State Track Coaches Association indoor meet at Edinboro University.

In the girls’ competition, the Golden Tornado’s 4x800-meter relay team of Erin LeMay, Maggie Welty, Emma LeMay and Liz Simms posted a first-place and school-record time of 9 minutes, 51.54 seconds.

In the distance medley relay, Erin LeMay, Welty and Simms teamed with Alexis Leech to place second, breaking the school record by 20 seconds in the process by finishing with a time of 12:59.77.

The boys team also posted a school standard in the distance medley relay. Brett Brady, Cody Reddick, Steve Patterson and Noah Beveridge bested the field with an effort of 11:03.46.

Shot Put: 3-Jena Reinheimer 38-7

Pole Vault: 3-Taylor Weaver 9-11

800 Relay: 5-Butler (Savannah Miller, Tabetha Wilbert, Maegan Emanuel, Maggie Hohn) 1:53.97

High Jump: 8-MacKenzi Popovich 4-10

Distance Medley Relay: 1-Butler (Brett Brady, Cody Reddick, Steve Patterson, Noah Beveridge) 11:03.46

60 Dash: 5-Luke Kernic 7.24

60 Hurdles: 6-Jacob Wolfrum 9.33

3,000 Run: 8-Aden Dressler 9:40.63

Boys Basketball

Grove City remained unbeaten with a 57-45 victory against East.

Logan Lutz led the way with 15 points for the Eagles (12-0, 9-0) while Isaac Thrasher scored 11 points and Kameron Patterson 10.

Grove City iced the game when, leading 44-39 after three quarters, it posted a 13-6 advantage in the final period.

Seneca Valley 55, Bethel Park 44 — The Raiders improved to 10-8 with this non-section win at Montour High School.

Lincoln Park 81, Mars 78 (OT) — The Planets (11-7) were outscored 44-32 in the second and third quarters, then 12-9 in overtime in suffering this non-section loss at Montour High School.

Andrew Recchia scored 22 points to lead Mars. Ben Lewis (18), Ben Perdziola (17) and Jerry Stoddart (10) also reached double figures in points.

Mars junior guard Robby Carmody, who returned from an injured ankle to play against West Allegheny on Friday, did not play in this game due to injury.

Girls Basketball

Macy McCall scored 12 points and Steph Croll added 10, but Slippery Rock dropped a 55-39 decision at Mercyhurst Prep.

Bailey Boyd tallied eight rebounds for the Rockets (12-4), who were outscored 29-12 in the second and third quarters.

A-C Valley 51, St. Marys 32 — The Falcons pushed their overall record to 10-4 with this victory over the host Dutch.

Olivia Boocks paced A-C Valley with 22 points and Ellie Thompson had 11.
