Nancy F. Reeser
Nancy F. Reeser, 83, of Cabot passed away while in the company of family Wednesday at Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights.
A longtime resident of Freeport, Nancy was born Nov. 7, 1933, in Natrona Heights. She was the daughter of the late Martha Nolf and W. Clair McFarland. She was the widow of Joseph F. Reeser, who died in 2012.
Nancy was an agent with Erie Insurance Co. for 30 years before her retirement. She also had worked for many years as a Realtor and past president of the Greater Allegheny Kiski Area Board of Realtors. She was also a notary. Nancy was a past Freeport Area Library Board member and a past member of the Freeport Borough Zoning Board. She also served on the board at the Armstrong County Children and Youth Services, and she volunteered for a number of years with the Good Samaritan Hospice Unit in Cabot. Nancy was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member and former secretary of the Clan MacFarlane Society. Nancy was an active member of the Town & Country Decorative Painters and the Golden Triangle Decorative Painters.
Nancy also enjoyed trying new restaurants and spending time with her family.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Barbara J. (Daniel) Reeser-Smiesko of Freeport; and two sons, Jeffrey N. (Donna) Reeser of St. Marys and Floyd K. (Darci) Reeser of Elizabethtown; 12 grandchildren, Scott Smiesko, Eric Stevens and Tyler Stevens of Pittsburgh, Jeffrey Smiesko of Freeport, Heather (Adam) Checkeye of Manheim, Nathaniel (Johnelle), Courtney (Ben), Noah and Samuel, of Elizabethtown, David Stevens and Chloé Stevens of St. Marys, and Abbey (Dustin) Pflugh of Canonsburg; 11 great-grandchildren; and her best friends, Kay Covone, MaryAnn Dunbar and Joan Huth.
Nancy was preceded in death by her son, Thomas F. Reeser; her grandson, Daniel Joseph Reeser- Smiesko; three brothers, William, James and John (Jack) McFarland; and two sisters, Dorothy Smith and Mary Leister.
REESER — Family and friends of Nancy F. Reeser, who died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017, will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Redmond Funeral Home, 524 High St., Freeport. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Rob Wilson, pastor of Zion United Methodist Church, officiating.
