SV gets $3.5K donation; will go toward classes

The Seneca Valley Foundation recently got a $3,500 donation from Farmers National Bank that will go to three classes at Seneca Valley School District.

The donation came through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development Education Improvement Tax Credit program.

The money will go to the Women in Engineering honors class, the engineering honors class, the engineering and experimentation honors class, and Accounting 1 and 2 classes.

A statewide initiative, the program enables businesses to make donations to organizations they choose from a Commonwealth-approved list. It was enacted by the state Department of Community and Economic Development in 2001.

The program enables eligible businesses, such as Farmers National Bank, to apply credits against their tax liability for the tax year in which they make a contribution to support education in Pennsylvania.

Farmers National Bank has participated in this program since 2001.
