Her teammates fed her the ball.

But Kristina DeMatteis passed it back to them instead.

Finally, DeMatteis hit a bucket to score her 18th point against Forest Area Tuesday night and reach 1,000 in her career in a 73-11 rout.

“That's just the type of player she is,” said Moniteau coach Dee Arblaster. “She's been a leader for us in the two years I've been back.”

DeMatteis is the first Moniteau player since 2006 to reach the milestone. Alyssa Deal was the last to score 1,000 points and she is the all-time leader with 1,445.

DeMatteis is the sixth player in school history to reach the mark. Arblaster (then Dee Slater) is also a member of that group.

Michelle Yeager and Autumn Kramer (both in 2001) and Lil Baptiste (1984) are the others.

Alazia Greaves scored 27 points to lead the Warriors.

Emma Bair added 14 points and 10 rebounds.
