Elmer Ellsworth Croll

Elmer Ellsworth Croll, 91, of Slippery Rock Township passed away Sunday at Orchard Manor.

Elmer was born Jan. 5, 1926, in Millbrook, Pa., to Delbert and Grace Double Croll.

He married Janet Eileen Nulph on Oct. 16, 1965. He was a U.S. Postal Service mail carrier and retired from the Slippery Rock post office. He graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1945, was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean War, and was a faithful member of the Center Presbyterian Church in Slippery Rock, where he frequently served as an usher.

Elmer loved spending time with his family and enjoyed farming and hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Janet at home; his daughter, Kimberly Suzanne Croll of Gonzales, La.; his son, Eric Elmer Croll, and his wife, Holly, of Butler; three grandchildren, Danner, Nathan and Leeah Croll; three sisters, Peg McConnell of Edinberg, Pa., Fran Lewis of Pulaski, Pa., and Ethel Maxwell of Plain Grove; three brothers, David Croll and his wife, Shirley, Harry Croll and wife, Delores, and Lee Croll and wife, Kay, all of Slippery Rock.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Delbert and Sam; his sister, Hannah; and three half-brothers, James, Barney and Walker Croll.

CROLL — The family of Elmer Ellsworth Croll, who died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017, will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. William Mumaw, pastor of Center Presbyterian Church, presiding. Interment will be at the West Liberty Cemetery, West Liberty Borough.Memorial contributions may be given in Elmer's memory to Center Presbyterian Church (Deacons Fund), 211 Center St., Slippery Rock, PA 16057.
