Pair face theft

Both accused of taking pet meds

CRANBERRY TWP — Police say a Seven Fields couple can scratch their plans to profit from ill-gotten gains.

Jeffrey A. Davies, 34, and Christine L. Davies, 36, are said to have stolen nearly $2,000 worth of Frontline, a pet medication on seven occasions between August and September 2016 at the Costco on Cranberry Square Drive, according to police reports.

The duo were caught on Sept. 29 while allegedly trying to make way with about $74 worth of the product.

While police were searching through Christine Davies’ purse for her driver’s license, her phone screen was shown to have numerous alerts for PayPal and eBay transactions, the latter of which was for a Frontline Plus dog purchase.

A third accomplice may be involved, police reports state.

A seller by the eBay name jdbrookside_8, who has a Mars address, was shown to be the seller of the Frontline items. Seventeen Frontline products were sold between Sept. 3 and Sept. 26, according to the report.

An investigation showed that numerous transactions for the products were made by the duo and that the two have previous theft convictions, according to police reports.

Christine Davies’ purse and phone were held as evidence.

Both Davies were issued trespass notifications by the store.

Police reports state 27 pieces were stolen in total and valued at nearly $2,000.

Both face three felony charges each, including retail theft, conspiracy to commit retail theft and receiving stolen property.

They were released on their own recognizance and waived their charges to county court last week.

Both Davies will be arraigned in county court on Feb. 28 at the same time.
