Beveridge snaps Tornado record

Butler’s Noah Beveridge broke a school record for the second consecutive week, logging a time of 4 minutes, 26.19 seconds in the 1,600-meter run in an indoor meet at Akron, Ohio, Saturday.

Beveridge won the race by nearly four seconds.

Last week Beveridge broke the school record in the 3,000-meter run.

Kent State indoor meet — Slippery Rock’s Brady Dalton broke a school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.33 seconds and placed third in the girls meet.

Dalton is the 12th-ranked girls hurdler in the state.

On the boys side, Ryan Putorti broke his own school record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.63.

Girls Basketball

Alazia Greaves and Kristina DeMatteis each scored 21 points as Moniteau downed Coudersport in overtime.

Greaves scored eight points in the extra frame with a 3-pointer and a 5-for-6 performance from the free throw line.

DeMatteis also had 12 rebounds, five blocks and five steals for the Warriors.

Emma Bair added 10 rebounds, five blocks and four steals for Moniteau.

Bishop Canevin 63, Slippery Rock 37 — Jenna Whitmer and Elena McDermott each scored eight points to lead the Rockets (11-2).

Boys Basketball

Joe Manculich scored 14 points and also added 13 rebounds, but A-C Valley fell to North Clarion 66-55 Friday night.

Russ Carr added 12 points for the Falcons.

Private Schools

Michaella Roth scored 13 points and also added five rebounds and six steals as the First Baptist Christian School girls basketball team edged Northgate JV 36-32.

Alexis Barnhart added 12 points and 24 rebounds.
