KC man killed in car crash

His sedan hit Rt. 38 utility pole

CONCORD TWP — A 25-year-old Karns City man was killed late Tuesday night when his car slammed into a utility pole and tree in the 1600 block of Route 38, authorities said.

Spencer Foust was northbound about one-quarter mile south of Hooker around 10:30 p.m. when he lost control of his small Nissan sedan and went off the east berm, state police said.

The car continued along the yard of a home before its front passenger side hit a utility pole and then traveled sideways into a tree. Foust, who apparently was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown out of the vehicle.

“The car was really crushed in,” said Chief Nick Grove of the North Washington Volunteer Fire Department.

Butler County Coroner William Young III pronounced Foust dead at the scene. No autopsy was performed. The cause of death is listed as severe injury to the head and chest.

The owners of the home where the crash happened, north of Rider Road, called 911.

Police did not know what caused the accident. Emergency crews noted that it was raining lightly but the road was not slippery. The wreck closed Route 38 between Hooker and Greece City for about two hours.

The Chicora Volunteer Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
