Butler PoliceMonday — Police charged Nicholas J. Campbell, 34, of Butler with defiant trespass after they found him Dec. 21 hiding in an apartment in the 200 block of West Brady Street where the owner in November had barred him.Officers also arrested Campbell when they learned he was wanted on a warrant. He was placed in the Butler County Prison.Butler Township PoliceThursday — Police charged three people in connection with a shoplifting incident last month at the Butler Commons’ Walmart. The trio was caught Dec. 27 allegedly taking $372.45 in unpaid merchandise from the store.Charged with retail theft and conspiracy are Keith Alexander, 34, Jamie Meyers, 37, and Danielle Welch, 32, all of Butler.

State Police, Butler7:48 p.m. Thursday — A 29-year-old Pittsburgh man, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia on Route 28 north in Buffalo Township.6:29 a.m. Thursday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Timothy J. Limbacher, 53, of Monroeville struck a deer on Route 28 north about four-tenths of a mile north of exit 17 in Buffalo Township.Thursday — Police reported that they are investigating the purchase of “multiple” guns with bad checks, passed between May 27 and Dec. 22 at the Rural King store, Clearview Mall, Center Township. A police report provided no other information about the investigation.Tuesday — Bryan K. Wissinger, 52, of Saxonburg was charged with drugged driving stemming from a one-car crash last week in Summit Township. Police said Wissinger about 8:20 p.m. Jan. 3 lost control of his car and struck a ditch and tree along Protzman Road near Herman Road. According to court documents, the suspect admitted taking methadone “within the past three hours.” Police said he was searched and found with a drug-smoking pipe.Wissinger is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license, driving without a license, disobeying traffic -control devices, failing to keep right, driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving and reckless driving.Tuesday — Police obtained a felony arrest warrant for Michael A. Guerierrio, 48, of Lyndora in connection with at least two shoplifting incidents last month at the Boscov’s store, Clearview Mall in Center Township.A Boscov’s security officer on Dec. 24 told police that Guerierrio had been in the store “multiple times” during the past month, according to court documents. The suspect “would take a few items and then run out of the store with those items,” the employee recounted.Store surveillance video allegedly caught Guerierrio on Dec. 7 stealing $318 in merchandise, including a bottle of cologne, a woman’s coat and men’s sporting clothing. He ran out the door before employees could stop him.Because of his prior record, he is charged with a felony count of retail theft. Court records showed Cranberry Township police on Jan. 4 obtained their own arrest warrant for Guerierrio in connection with an identify theft and shoplifting case on Dec. 2.Tuesday — Police charged William R. McCoy III, 30, of Brady Township with being more than twice the legal limit for alcohol following a traffic stop Dec. 26 in Clay Township. He was pulled over about 3 a.m. for crossing the double yellow line and speeding on Route 8 near Muddy Creek Drive.McCoy, who smelled of alcohol and appeared impaired, according to court documents, was later arrested after failing field sobriety tests. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology results, police said, showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.221 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.In addition to DUI, McCoy is charged with failing to keep right, speeding, careless driving and not wearing a seat belt.Saturday — Ashley L. Malesh, 27, of Slippery Rock was charged with drugged driving and seven traffic violations in connection with a one-vehicle wreck Nov. 3 in Franklin Township.Malesh is accused of being under the influence of drugs about 6 p.m. when she lost control of her minivan on Unionville Road and ended up in a ditch. The crash sent power lines onto her van and across the road.Malesh, who was injured, appeared high on drugs, court documents said. She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology reports later showed that she had methadone and the anti-anxiety medication in her system, documents said. Malesh is charged with DUI, driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance, failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes, driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving and not wearing a seat belt.Jan. 6 — Benjamin L. Warren, 20, of Slippery Rock was charged with DUI stemming from a two-vehicle crash last month in Slippery Rock Township. Police said Warren rear-ended a bus Dec. 3 on Kiester Road while returning home from a friend’s house.The defendant, who reeked of alcohol and appeared impaired, according to court documents, was eventually arrested and given a breath test. His blood-alcohol level was 0.173 percent, or more than twice the state’s 0.08 percent legal limit. In addition to DUI, Warren is charged with following too closely to another vehicle, driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving.Jan. 5 — Police charged James P. Stewart, 55, of Butler Township with illegally trying to get a pistol transferred back into his name last year. He allegedly lied about his criminal record Jan. 23, 2016, when he completed the federal firearm transfer form at Shedio Logging & Lumber in Slippery Rock Township. Stewart is charged with unlawfully attempting to transfer a firearm, a felony, and making a false statement a misdemeanor.

State Police, Clarion7:09 p.m. Tuesday — The driver of a pickup truck backed up into a ditch on Cherry Run Road just west of Huey Road in Toby Township. Police did not identify the driver.

State Police, Kittanning7:02 p.m. Wednesday — A 49-year-old Murrysville, Westmoreland County man, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance on Route 28 in South Buffalo Township.

State Police, MercerWednesday — A vandal between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. drove a vehicle through the yard at a home in the 800 block of Old Ash Road in Springfield Township.
