Butler man accused of selling drugs

A suspected Butler drug dealer was arrested after police allegedly observed a confidential informant buy heroin from him last year.

Donald J. Hutchinson, 25, of West Penn Street, was arraigned Friday morning on two counts of felony drug possession and two counts of felony criminal use of a communication facility.

He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail.

Hutchinson was investigated by officers with the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Bureau of Narcotics with help from the Butler County Drug Task Force.

In August, 2016, officers met with a confidential informant who told them that they were in contact with a drug dealer known as “Dutch,” according to the criminal complaint.

The informant on Aug. 22 arranged a meeting at Pullman Plaza with Hutchinson via cell phone. While under surveillance of two officers, the informant allegedly met Hutchinson and another black male behind the plaza and exchanged cash for an unspecified amount of heroin. On Aug. 29 the informant arranged another purchase of heroin while under surveillance in an area near Penn Street.

Hutchinson has previous drug arrests and is a convicted felon.
