ADAMS TWP — An apartment building containing 211 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments will be built behind Mars National Bank off Route 228.
Known as the Shoppes at Heritage Creek Lot 6, the township supervisors on Monday night approved the plan unanimously.
Project manager Scott Maritzer told the supervisors the developer will use the “doughnut” style model for the building, which means a parking garage will be built in the center of the property and the apartments will surround it.
“It’s really maximizing the site,” he said.
Maritzer said the building will be five stories in the front and four stories in the rear.
There will be two entrances into the building, which also will feature a pool, fitness center and multipurpose room.
The cost of the apartments will be in the $1,500 range, Maritzer said.
Supervisor Linda Lees expressed concern with the amount of additional traffic the apartment building would cause on Route 228.
Maritzer said the developer considered an office building for the property, which would have caused a greater volume of traffic.
Maritzer said construction on the project will likely begin in the spring.
