Balanced attack lifts Knoch girls, 56-47

Balanced scoring led Knoch’s girls basketball team to a 56-47 Section 1-4A victory over visiting Burrell on Tuesday.

Junior guard Gabby Fennell paced the Knights (3-6, 1-1) with 14 points while Emily Fraser dropped 12 points.

Casey Kretzer and Carly Burdett both had 10.

Boys Basketball

Jacob Friel tallied 18 points and nine rebounds as Karns City ran away with a 64-37 KSAC-South win at A-C Valley.

Ian McElroy scored 11 points for the Gremlins (6-3), Eric Dodd 10 points and Noah Pollock had eight assists.

Kody Wolfe scored nine points for A-C Valley (1-6).

North Hills 60, Seneca Valley 58 — The Raiders fell on a 2-point bucket at the buzzer by North Hills’ Luke Chutko.

Chris Hart scored 16 points for the Raiders (4-5, 0-2), Payton Skalos 15 and Mark Smathers 11.

Leechburg 54, Summit Academy 43 — Tyler Harrison led the Knights (1-7, 1-2) with 12 points.

Montour 92, Knoch 78 — Mac Christy scored 22 for the Knights (6-3, 1-2), Austin Hannes had 16, P.J. Gourley 13 and Devin Campbell 11.

George Junior Republic 59, Slippery Rock 36 — The Rockets were outscored 14-2 in the third quarter of this road loss.

Moniteau 47, Redbank Valley 28 — Lake Pry scored 24 points and also had 10 rebounds as the Warriors rolled.

Jake Jewart added eight points and five assists for Moniteau (4-5).

Hockey

Noah Watkiss scored two goals and Logan Johnson stopped 29 of 30 shots in Seneca Valley’s 4-1 win against Peters Township at Iceoplex.

Braden White and Matt Blazewick also scored for the Raiders (8-5-1).

Swimming

Knoch’s Derek Ekas claimed the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events in a 79-71 loss to Shady Side Academy.

The Knoch girls suffered a 94-84 loss to the Indians.
