Rocket girls stun Belle Vernon

McCall 3-pointer beats buzzer for 54-53 victory

Macy McCall banked in a 3-pointer at the buzzer in overtime as the Slippery Rock High girls basketball team stunned Belle Vernon 54-53 Saturday afternoon.

McCall received a long, baseball inbound pass from Steph Croll with 2.7 seconds left in overtime, took a dribble to her left and fired up a shot that banked in for the win.

Just to get to overtime, Croll again executed a perfect long, baseball inbound pass to McCall, who took a dribble and passed it to Elena McDermott for the game-tying 3-pointer with less than two seconds remaining.

Sedona Campbell led Slippery Rock (6-1) with 19 points and 21 rebounds.

McCall finished with 12 points and 16 boards for the Rockets, who have now won six straight.

Slippery Rock doesn't play again until Jan. 9 when it travels for a region game against Grove City.
