Three-vehicle crash snarls traffic on Main Street

A three-vehicle accident at the intersection of Wayne and Main streets around 3:45 p.m. Friday resulted in several minor injuries.

Dustin Scott, 21, of Saxonburg was driving a green Dodge Neon west on Wayne Street when he ran a red light at the intersection of Main Street. Scott said he mistook it for a green light

Anthony Colosimo was heading south on Main Street in a Chevrolet Tahoe, and collided into the Neon.

“When he hit us the car went sideways and I couldn't stop,” Scott said.

The Neon came to a stop on the curb in front of Butler County Ford at 400 S. Main St., hitting two female pedestrians. The unidentified women suffered minor injuries; one complained of knee pain, while the other had road rash on her back. Both were transported by Butler Ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital.

The Tahoe hit a Mercury Monterey stopped at a red light facing east on Wayne and Main streets. The driver of the Monterey, Ron Atkison, 54, of Chicora was not injured.

The Monterey sustained front-end damage but was not towed. The airbags of the Tahoe and Neon deployed, and both vehicles sustained severe front-end damage and were towed.

Colisimo was not injured, but his daughter Elizabeth, 21, suffered a minor injury and was transported by Butler Ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital.

The Butler Fire Department, the Butler Police Department, the Butler County Sheriff's Department and the Butler Ambulance Service were on scene.

Traffic was tied up for about an hour following the accident.
