Butler Police5:49 p.m. Tuesday — Rose M. Murrin, 93, of Butler lost control of her car and struck a utility pole along West Cunningham Street.9:40 a.m. Tuesday — A pickup truck driven by Ronald D. Lefever, 72, of West Sunbury and a car driven by James W. Dollhopf, 68, of Butler collided at South Chestnut and West Jefferson streets. Police cited Lefever for failing to stop at a red light.12:58 p.m. Nov. 30 — A car driven by Jeffery T. Pritts, 33, of Valencia and a sport utility vehicle driven by Mary L. Kephart, no age given, of Butler Township collided at Fillmore and Ball Park roads.8:29 a.m. Nov. 28 — Three passengers riding in a cargo van owned by The Arc of Butler County were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital to be examined for possible injuries following a three-vehicle, chain-reaction wreck on Route 8 south near Pepperland Boulevard.The crash happened when William J. Lowe, 67, of West Sunbury failed to stop his van in time and hit the back of a sport utility vehicle. The SUV, in turn, was forced into the back of a car. The SUV, driven by Kathleen Tack, 73, and the car, driven by Martin Tack, 70, both of Butler, were stopped to turn into the Butler Tires for Less store.Riding in the van were Thomas Bunnell, 53, Alan Kress, 55, and Larry Marrow, 65, all of Butler. It was not known if they suffered any injuries. All the occupants were wearing seat belts. Police cited Lowe for driving at an unsafe speed.10:10 p.m. Nov. 26 — A car driven by Monica R. Zimmerman, 33, of Butler sideswiped an SUV that was parked in the 200 block of West Penn Street. She did not stop after the crash despite losing her front right tire and drove home on the rim, according to a police report.Police later spoke to Zimmerman, who admitted she became distracted and lost control of her car when her dog jumped up into the front seat. She said she “panicked” and drove away because she had no license, the report said.She was cited for hit-and-run, driving with a suspended license-DUI related and driving without insurance.12:21 p.m. Nov. 26 — Jason Kostelansky, 41, of Butler lost control of his car and struck a utility pole along Main Street near Diamond Street. He told police he possibly fell asleep at the wheel. Police cited Kostelansky for driving without a license.12:17 p.m. Nov. 22 — A car driven by Jeremiah T. Thomas rear-ended another car that was parked on Walker Avenue.Nov. 7 — Police obtained an arrest warrant for Steven W. Whipple, 45, of West Sunbury on charges he lied to police investigating the circumstances Nov. 5 of a car found parked in the middle of Krut Street.Whipple was one of three men that officers found in the vehicle. He was questioned and eventually released. But after police got back to the station and reviewed his information, they learned he had given them a bogus name.Police also discovered that he was wanted on a bench warrant stemming from the June 4 assault of a 42-year-old woman during a domestic dispute at their home.Whipple is charged in the arrest warrant with false identification to law enforcement authorities.

Butler Twp PoliceWednesday — Police reported they are continuing to investigate last week’s theft of a mattress and pillows at the Butler RV Center on Route 8 south.The crime happened about 10:30 p.m. Nov. 30 when the thief climbed through a recreational vehicle’s rear window that was forced open. The crook made off with a mid-sized mattress and two pillows.A police report did not indicate if there are any suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-285-9600.Wednesday — Peter A. Salata, 41, of Butler was charged with theft by deception and attempted theft by deception in connection with a Nov. 1 suspected fraudulent return scheme totaling $177.71 at the Kohl’s store at the Butler Crossing shopping plaza.Wednesday — Scott M. Carr, 33, of Butler was charged with drunken and drugged driving stemming from what initially was a call for a motorist having a medical issue about 12:40 p.m. at South Eberhart and New Castle roads.In addition to driving under the influence of a combination of alcohol and drugs, he also was charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and careless driving.10:21 p.m. Monday — Tony Lee Harris, 25, of Butler allegedly entered a home on Valley Street and assaulted a woman, who suffered a minor injury. Harris also is accused of damaging numerous items in the house.Police obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect on a felony charge of trespass, misdemeanor charges of simple assault and criminal mischief, and summary charges of harassment and driving with a suspended license-DUI related.

State Police, Butler10:07 p.m. Wednesday — A 29-year-old Butler woman, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 268 in Parker Township.6:07 p.m. Wednesday — Tariq Miller, 18, of Pittsburgh was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance following a three-vehicle crash at Branchton and Harmony roads in Slippery Rock Township.Joshua Schill, no age or address given, and Estela Eliliott, no age or address given, were the other drivers.2 a.m. Wednesday — A 44-year-old Pittsburgh woman, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of DUI on Route 28 north in Buffalo Township.
