'Magic of Christmas'

Walter Morales, music director of the Edgewood Symphony Orchestra, will be the guest conductor for the Butler County Symphony Orchestra's “Magic of Christmas” concert Saturday.
Symphony performs annual holiday show

The Butler County Symphony Orchestra's “Magic of Christmas” concert takes place Saturday in the Butler Intermediate High School auditorium.

The 68th season's holiday show will feature popular tunes including “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” “Polar Express Suite,” “God Bless Us Everyone” and selections from “The Nutcracker.”

The symphony will be performing under guest conductor, Walter Morales, music director of the Edgewood Symphony Orchestra.

His previous positions include music director of Undercroft Opera and Carnegie Mellon University Contemporary Ensemble, head of music of Opera Theater of Pittsburgh, assistant director of Orchestral Studies at Carnegie Mellon University, and assistant conductor of the Pittsburgh Philharmonic.

The symphony will be performing along with the Butler Senior High School Choir as well as the Seneca Valley Madrigal Singers.

The annual Holiday Basket Raffle fundraiser will be held.

Doors open at 6 p.m. A pre-concert choral performance by the Butler Senior High Choir will be at 7 p.m. in the lobby, and the show will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Concert tickets are available at the Butler Symphony office at 259 S. Main St., 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, or at www.butlersymphony.org. Tickets are $20.50 for adults and $5.50 for students. Call 724-283-1402 for information.
