Cyclist suffers injury after crash

Butler police are investigating a bicycle crash Wednesday night that landed a city man in the hospital.

John Graham, 23, suffered an apparent head injury shortly before 10:15 p.m. when he collided with an unidentified pickup truck as he rode his bike from Walker Avenue onto Brugh Avenue, city police said.

He was taken by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital. Graham’s condition was not known this morning but his injuries were considered minor, according to emergency crews.

Graham told officers that moments before being hit, he saw the pickup rounding the corner. He said he hit his head on the truck and fell off the bike, landing on the road.

Two men in the truck stopped, he recounted, and they helped them onto the sidewalk. He said they asked him if he was all right.

But while Graham was speaking to his girlfriend on the cell phone, the unknown men drove away, heading toward Route 8.

He described the truck as a tan, crew cab pickup, possibly a Chevrolet.

A police report did not list descriptions of the two men in the truck. It was not known if Graham provided police with any descriptions.

The Butler Fire Department assisted police at the scene.
