Owner puts out stove fire
SUMMIT TWP — The owner of the home at 125 Kriley Grove hosed down a pellet stove fire early this morning.
Chief Rob McLafferty of the Herman Volunteer Fire Company said Doug Kriley used his hose to extinguish the blaze, which started after the stove’s exhaust pipe overheated.
“The homeowner did an outstanding job,” McLafferty said.
After responding to the 2:33 a.m. 911 call, Herman firefighters ensured the fire was out and ventilated the house.
The exhaust spread the flames to the adjacent wooden fascia wall. McLafferty estimated damages at $1,500.
