Cash, ATM stolen from Summit Twp. golf course

SUMMIT TWP — An unknown burglar went for the green during a burglary at the Serene Valley Golf Course.

The crook not only stole $35 from a cash register but an automated teller machine that contained about $260, authorities said.

State police are investigating the break-in and theft that happened Nov. 9 or 10 but they have no suspects.

The overnight burglary occurred when the suspect entered Rome’s Cafe on the grounds of the golf course on Bonniebrook Road in Summit Township. The money and ATM were taken from the restaurant.

A police report did not say how investigators believe the suspect — or suspects — managed to get away with the machine.

The ATM is described as a Hyosung 1800SE model. It is gray with a blue face screen.

The investigating trooper was unavailable this morning and golf course owner Ron Rome could not be reached for comment.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.
