Firefighters contain kitchen fire
Butler firefighters prevented a stove fire from spreading to the rest of a Virginia Avenue house Friday night.
Capt. Kevin McAfee of the Butler Fire Department said a grease fire ignited on the stove at 306 Virginia Ave., the Overton family residence.
After responding to the 6:31 p.m. call, firefighters doused the fire and pulled the stove out of the home.
“It was minor,” McAfee said.
McAfee estimated damages at roughly $2,000. The owners are insured.
Crews cleared the scene at 7:11 p.m.
