Eight Butler County Prison correction officers are facing disciplinary action for undisclosed misconduct.

Warden Joe DeMore said he could not confirm who was involved, the nature of the misconduct or the form of discipline.

“We dealt with a personnel issue we won't comment on,” DeMore said.

Sheriff Mike Slupe, county prison board chairman, also declined to provide specifics.

He said he did not participate in the prison's internal investigation into the matter.

“The results of that internal investigation lead me to believe there was such conduct requiring certain action be taken,” Slupe said.

He expressed support for any steps DeMore takes in addressing the situation.
