SV grad Fatschel receives honor

PITTSBURGH — Seneca Valley High School graduate Andreas Fatschel, a senior defender on the Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team, has been honored by College Sports Information Directors of America as a 2016 Division III Academic All-America of the Year honoree.

A three-year starter at center back for the Tartans, Fatschel helped lead the team to a 13-4-2 record and a first-round win in the NCAA Tournament this year.

Fatschel earned his second appearance on the CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team and is a three-time University Athletic Association (UAA) All-Academic honoree. Additionally, Fatschel was named to the All-UAA First Team this season.

A mechanical and biomedical engineering major, Fatschel carries a 3.97 grade-point average.
