Knoch volleyball falls, 3-0

Sarah Armahizer had 11 kills, but the Knoch volleyball team's PIAA Class AAA run ended in a 25-19, 25-20, 25-13 loss to WPIAL champion West Allegheny Saturday at Peters Township.

The Knights had advanced to the PIAA quarterfinals after an upset win over Fort LeBoeuf Tuesday that came without Abby Pospisil, who tore her ACL in the WPIAL semifinals.

Bethany Nulph added 10 kills for Knoch.

State College 3, Seneca Valley 1 — The Raiders PIAA quad-A run came to an end in a 25-19, 25-12, 17-25, 25-22 loss at DuBois.

Boys Soccer

Darryl Daniels scored the lone goal in the second half as Seton-La Salle edged Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic 1-0 in the PIAA Class A quarterfinals at North Allegheny.

That ended the season for the Trojans, who had not made the playoffs for 20 years until 2016 and won just two games in 2014.

Lower Dauphin 4, Mars 0 — The Planets hung close to the District 3 champion for 60 minutes, but the undefeated Falcons scored two goals in the final 20 minutes for the win.

Lower Dauphin (26-0) has given up just five goals this season and scored 103.
