CRANBERRY TWP — A 23-year-old man was arrested earlier this month for allegedly hitting his stepson.

Cody Vorderbrueggen of Baden Friday waived to court charges of simple assault and endangering the welfare of children.

Police were called to a residence on Route 19 on the night of Oct. 7, according to court records.

Though Vorderbrueggen left the residence, the officer interviewed a 4-year-old boy there who allegedly said Vorderbrueggen slapped him in the face after he spilled cleaning fluid. He had a substantial injury on the left side of his face, records said.

The boy’s mother did not see the incident, but allegedly said Vorderbrueggen admitted to the assault and apologized.

He is free on $5,000 bail.
