Assistant principal resigns at Moniteau to take new job

Todd Amsler

CHERRY TWP — Todd Amsler, assistant principal for Moniteau Junior-Senior High School, is moving on.

The Moniteau School Board Monday night accepted his resignation and approved posting the position.

Amsler will continue at Moniteau High School at least until December.

He has worked at the high school as assistant principal for three years.

Amsler had high praise for the people he worked with in the district and he said, “They put kids first.”

The Moniteau job was Amsler's first administrative position after being a health and physical education teacher and football coach in the Lakeview School District in Stoneboro, Mercer County.

“I think we've been able to create a great team here and I was very proud to be a part of it,” he said.

Amsler will be the assistant high school principal for Upper Perkiomen High School in Montgomery County.

Lance Fox, high school principal, said, “He's by far the best administrator that I've worked with in my 15 years of experience. I'm going to miss him a lot. He's fair and consistent and self- motivated. He works hard.”

Amsler said he has nothing but good things to say about the Moniteau School District.

“I'll always have wonderful memories of Moniteau,” Amsler said. “I've been very blessed to be an administrator here.”

On Monday night, the school board also:

Followed the recommendation of its buildings and grounds committee and voted to reject the bids received for replacing the high school stadium bleachers and stairs and addressing stormwater runoff under the seats.

The request for proposals to complete the work was issued in August before the district hired Jeff Campbell as the district's director of buildings and grounds.

Campbell said the bleachers passed the most recent inspection and that the repairs can be completed by local contractors.

Stadium renovation costs are included in the school district's 2016-17 budget.

In August, Michael Panza, chairman of the buildings and grounds committee, said he expected the work to be completed by June 1. Campbell does not expect delays that would extend the work past that date.
