Butler Police2 a.m. Thursday — Jack J. Fleming, 42, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, 47-year-old Margaret Winters, at their home on Morton Avenue.The alleged victim told police that Fleming grabbed her by the throat and struck her, according to court documents. When the woman’s daughter tried to intervene, the defendant pushed the girl away.Winters suffered a swollen right eye and red marks around her neck and chest area, police said.Fleming, who is charged with simple assault, is free on $10,000 unsecured bail.12:30 p.m. Wednesday — A 17-year-old student at the Center Avenue School threatened to kill at least one school police officer during an altercation there. No one was injured.Police did not identify the suspect, a boy, who faces a possible charge of terroristic threats, pending the ongoing investigation.

Butler Twp PoliceThursday — Andrew J. Henry, 19, of Evans City was charged with drunken driving in connection with a traffic stop about 2:15 a.m. Oct. 2 on Whitestown Road.In addition to driving under the influence, Henry is charged with DUI by a minor, underage drinking and driving with improper tires.Thursday — A Michigan man has been charged with DUI stemming from a one-vehicle wreck Sept. 30 on Hindman Road.Police said the suspect, 24-year-old Douglas M. Sharpsteen of Gobles, crashed his vehicle shortly before midnight in a temporary construction area and fled.Sharpsteen is charged with DUI, hit-and-run and careless driving.12:02 a.m. Saturday — Brandon Gates, 26, of Pulaski, Lawrence County, and Mathias Cajka, 29, of Butler allegedly stole political signs in the Meridian area. Both face theft charges.

Butler County Sheriff’s OfficeTuesday — Stefanie J. Kepple, 24, of Cherry Township allegedly provided false information on a background check form to obtain a permit to carry a handgun.Kepple is accused of giving answers about her criminal record on the concealed carry application that were not truthful and was rejected by the Pennsylvania Instant Check System that is run by the state police. She is charged with unsworn falsification to authorities.

State Police, Butler3:34 p.m. Thursday — Two women were taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle wreck in Center Township.The crash happened, according to a police report, when a car driven by Nicole M. Tolliver, 18, of Dearborn, Mich., struck the back of another car on North Duffy Road at Mercer Road. The other driver, Linda M. Eury, 68, of Butler, was stopped to make a left turn.Both drivers were taken by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital where they were evaluated for possible injuries. They were wearing seat belts. Police said Tolliver faces a ticket for driving at an unsafe speed.Butler Ambulance Service and the Unionville Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.Tuesday — Police arrested a York County teenager a short time after he broke out of the Summit Academy reform school on Herman Road in Summit Township.The suspect, Matthew I. Thomas, 18, of Spring Grove was arraigned Tuesday night on a felony charge of escape, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.Police said Thomas walked away from the facility after becoming upset. A staff member, however, quickly caught up to him at Herman and Bonniebrook roads. But he refused to return, according to court documents.Eventually, Summit Academy officials notified police, who got to the intersection where they found Thomas being detained by staff members.Tuesday — An arrest warrant was issued for Kristen L. Keibler, 36, of Renfrew on charges she used her son’s personal information, and signed his name, in May to obtain cable television service in Franklin Township.Keibler is charged with forgery and identity theft.2:20 a.m. Oct. 14 — Megan E. Stevick, 23, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence on Kiester Road in Slippery Rock Township. She reeked of alcohol and was taken for a breath test after failing field sobriety tests, according to documents.Test results showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.099 percent, according to court documents. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.Stevick is charged with DUI, careless driving and two lighting violations.

State Police, Kittanning6:44 a.m. Wednesday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Dennis E. Hellgren, 66, of Rural Valley struck a deer on Route 28 south just north of Horseshoe Drive in South Buffalo Township. He was not hurt but his SUV had to be towed.10:55 p.m. Tuesday — A car hit a deer on Route 28 north just west of Cadogan Slate Lick Road in North Buffalo Township. Police did not identify the man.9:20 a.m. Oct. 13 — A sport utility vehicle driven by Louise Blake, 82, of New Bethlehem, Clarion County, struck another car at Nolte and Glade drives in East Franklin Township. Police cited Blake for a stop sign violation. Rebecca R. Bemish, 65, of Kittanning was the other driver.
