Butler PoliceOct. 11 — John N. Ingram, 33, of Butler was charged with passing counterfeit currency in August at the A-Plus convenience store on West Jefferson Street. Police allege he used two phony $5 bills and a bogus $1 bill on Aug. 27 to buy $11 worth of gas.While Ingram was still at the fuel pump, the clerk realized the funny money. But when the clerk got on the telephone to call police, the defendant drove away.Police reviewed store surveillance video and posted a photograph of the suspect on the department’s Facebook page. A city detective saw the photo and recognized Ingram as the suspect.He is charged with forgery, a felony.Oct. 11 — Police obtained an arrest warrant for Jonathan A. Lubinsky, 33, of Butler stemming from a shoplifting incident last month at the Pullman Square shopping plaza.Lubinsky is accused of swiping T-shirts and a paperback book worth a combined $21.48 on Sept. 15 from the Kmart store. The suspect, who has one prior shoplifting conviction and three pending shoplifting cases from 2015, is charged with a felony count of retail theft.

Butler Township Police12:21 a.m. Tuesday — A vehicle driven by Andrew P. Hughes, 19, of Butler struck a deer at Meridian and Buttercup roads. No one was injured, but the vehicle sustained heavy front-end damage and had to be towed.Tuesday — Douglas L. Robertson, 59, of Butler was arrested on charges in a suspected theft in August. Police allege that on Aug. 19 or 20 he stole a debit card and used it at the Sheetz convenience store on Center Avenue to withdraw money from an automated teller machine.Robertson was arraigned on a felony charge of identity theft and misdemeanor charges of theft and access fraud. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $7,500 bail following arraignment.

Grove City PoliceTuesday — Police are asking for help in solving a vandalism case last week at the parking lot of the soccer field on North Liberty Road. An unknown vandal about 5:30 p.m. Oct. 12 was driving a black two-door vehicle with a rear hatch.The vehicle, according to a police report, entered the parking lot and started to spin tires and do doughnuts, causing ruts in the parking lot. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.Tuesday — A leather briefcase-type bag, valued at $100, was taken from a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Edgewood Avenue. The theft happened sometime between 9 p.m. Monday and 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

State Police, ButlerTuesday — An arrest warrant was issued for Christopher A. Chuhra, 36, of Brady Township stemming from a weekend assault at a home on Marigold Lane in Brady Township.Police said Chuhra about 9:30 p.m. Sunday attacked 34-year-old Cara M. Lutz of Brady Township. He allegedly struck her in the face, threw her to the ground, dragged her across the floor and kicked and punched her, according to a police report.Lutz suffered a swollen right eye and a bloody nose.Chuhra sped away from the home in the victim’s vehicle, police said, traveling numerous roads before stopping and running away. Police recovered the car on Blue Bell Lane in Brady Township.He is charged with simple assault, unauthorized use of a vehicle, harassment, driving with a suspended license and driving without a license.

State Police, New Castle9:14 a.m. Sunday — Alcohol is a suspected factor in a one-vehicle wreck in Scott Township that injured at least one teenager.The crash happened, according to police, when Colten D. Luhrs, 19, of Ellwood City lost control of his pickup truck and struck a tree along Route 19 just south of Gumpp Drive. He suffered an apparent minor injury.Neither Luhrs nor his passenger, Brandon Holsinger, 19, of Ellwood City, was wearing a seat belt. Police said they did not know if Holsinger was injured. The pickup sustained severe front-end damage.9:26 a.m. Sept. 26 — Jerry L. Furey, 28, of Grove City was hurt when the pickup he was driving crashed and rolled over on Route 108 just north of Grossman Lane in Scott Township. Furey, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Grove City Medical Center with minor injuries.Police cited him for driving at an unsafe speed.10:58 a.m. Sept. 25 — Cars driven by Robert E. Armstrong III, 82, of New Castle and Reece T. Coulter, 27, of Grove City collided at Route 208 and Old Mercer Road in Wilmington Township. Police cited Armstrong for a stop sign violation.
