SV golfer gets 6th at regional

Solid efforts on the front and back nine at Tom's Run Golf Course in Blairsville have landed Seneca Valley's Adam Bushee in the PIAA Class AAA Championship.

The junior carded a three-over-par 75 (38-37) at Monday's Western Regional, tying him for sixth place.

Latrobe's Brady Pavarnik placed first with a 70.

“His tee balls were really good. He kept them in play almost the whole day,” said Raiders' coach Steve Mayes of Bushee. “There was only one time when he sprayed it a bit.

“When he did miss the green, his short game was working well.”

Bushee becomes the first male from Seneca Valley to make the state final since Mike McNulty in 2010.

“I set a goal of making states before the season started,” Bushee said. “I was hitting a lot of greens and fairways today and didn't make a lot of mistakes.”

The state event will be held Monday and Tuesday at Heritage Hills Golf Resort in York.

Bushee plans to play two practice rounds at the course this weekend.

“I will be focusing on what club to use on each hole, where is the best place to be on each green,” he said. “I just want to play well and put my name out there.”
