Butler Police1:38 a.m. Thursday — Stephanie M. O’Malley, 21, was arrested after she allegedly chased her brother with a knife during an argument at her home on the 300 block of Second Street.The victim, Christopher O’Malley, told police that his sister was intoxicated when she armed herself with the fixed-blade knife, which officers found on the porch, court documents said. Christopher O’Malley was not injured.Police said the suspect appeared to be under the influence when they found her at the home. She was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and released on $2,500 unsecured bail.Thursday — George S. Strycharz, 62, of Butler was caught with a suspected marijuana plant on the front porch of his home on the 400 block of East Locust Street.Police discovered the potted plant, which could be seen from the sidewalk, while responding to a report of drug activity, according to court documents. Strycharz, who initially denied owning the plant, later admitted it was his, police said.He is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana.Wednesday — Donald L. Gould, 82, of Butler Township was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence stemming from a traffic stop at 1:48 p.m. Sept. 29 on West Penn Street.Police said they smelled alcohol coming from Gould, who admitted having five or six mixed drinks with rum. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test.Toxicology results found his blood-alcohol level was 0.167 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated in Pennsylvania. In addition to DUI, Gould is charged with not using turn signals.4:41 a.m. Oct. 11 — Raymont A. Cathie, 36, of Pittsburgh was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving during an altercation on the 500 block of West Penn Street.Cathie is accused of stopping on the road, playing music loudly and yelling at people, according to court documents. He also tried to put pieces of a brick inside the tail pipe of Dennis Goodwine’s car. Goodwine lives on the street.Police said when an officer approached the defendant’s vehicle, he put it in reverse and tried to drive away. He eventually stopped. The officer reported Cathie reeked of alcohol. A breath test later showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.174, more than double the state’s legal limit.Cathie is charged with DUI, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.

Butler Twp PoliceMonday — Police charged a Butler woman with brandishing a stun gun during an altercation with a man earlier this month in the parking lot at the Butler Commons’ Walmart.The suspect, 52-year-old Gay Newth, was in a car in the parking lot when the incident started. She got out of the vehicle, according to a police report, and confronted another driver.She reached into the victim’s car and “attempted to smack him,” the report said. The man drove away but Newth followed him through the parking lot until he stopped in front of the store.The defendant allegedly displayed and pointed a stun gun device toward the victim, who was not injured.Newth is charged with terroristic threats, disorderly conduct, illegal possession of an incapacitation device and harassment.Monday — Douglas M. Zarnick, 55, of Butler was charged with stalking and two counts of harassment in connection with an incident Oct. 6 at the Planet Fitness at Alameda Plaza. He is accused of following a woman who works at the business.1 p.m. Sunday — Lisa M. Coates, 52, of Butler was caught allegedly shoplifting $214 in merchandise at the Walmart at Butler Commons. Police said Coates is charged with retail theft.12:30 p.m. Oct. 10 — Lisa M. Fair, 35, was caught with suspected drug contraband after a 911 hang-up call led police to a home on the 200 block of Woodbury Drive. Police said when they got there they found Fair under the influence of narcotics.She is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Grove City Police Thursday — Lana K. Schall, 48, of Grove City allegedly pummeled another woman during a fight at the American Legion on South Broad Street.Schall, who is charged with simple assault and harassment, is accused of tackling the other woman to the ground, punching her in the face, pulling her hair and bouncing her head off the floor.The alleged victim suffered apparent minor injuries.

State Police, Butler1:35 a.m. Sunday — Noviko Michaud, 39, of Slippery Rock was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Franklin Street in Slippery Rock.3:58 a.m. Saturday — Jonathan P. Hites, 20, of New Castle was arrested for suspicion of DUI after he crashed his vehicle on Route 108 about one-half mile east of the Dairy Queen restaurant in Worth Township.2:41 a.m. Saturday — Anthony L. Shaffer, 23, of Butler was arrested for suspected drugged driving in Brady Township. Police said they also found him with suspected marijuana and other contraband following the traffic stop on Route 8 just south of Hall Road.Shaffer faces charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

State Police, KittanningFriday — Police charged Raymond S. Baker, 37, of Worthington in connection with a suspected drug overdose last month in Worthington. A medical crew had to revive Baker, who was found unresponsive about 9:20 p.m. Sept. 21 at the home on the 100 block of East Main Street.Police said they also found Baker with empty stamp bags of suspected heroin. Baker is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

State Police, New Castle5:20 p.m. Monday — A 48-year-old man was seriously injured when a vehicle struck him in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.Police said Perry L. Lawry of New Castle ran into the path of the vehicle traveling west on Route 422 just east of Young Road. A medical helicopter flew him to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh. His condition was not known this morning.The driver, Tyler J. Misner, 18, of New Castle, was not injured.Police noted that during their investigation they learned Lawry had showed up at a nearby home without the owner’s permission. A charge of trespass is pending, according to a police report.
