Wharton 90th birthday
Ruth McGrath Wharton, of Butler and Boca Raton, Fla., celebrated her 90th birthday with a family dinner at her daughter’s home in Butler.
The former Ruth Gray was born Sept. 17, 1926, in McKees Rocks. She married the late Jerry McGrath on Sept. 10, 1949, at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Altoona. She married Paul Wharton on Jan. 14, 1984, at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
She has six children, Kathleen (John) Rutkoski of Butler; Sandra Rishor of Portland, Ore.; Gregory McGrath of Marysville, Ohio; Paul McGrath of Flowery Branch, Ga.; Denise Stevenson of Troy, Ala.; and Scott (Kim) McGrath of Richmond, Texas.
She also has 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Wharton was a secretary at Penn State University. She also was a real estate agent and an Avon district manager.
She is a member of St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church in Center Township.
Mrs. Wharton enjoys bingo and playing cards.
