Man injured by tree

A man, reportedly injured when a tree fell and hit his head, was transported by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital Monday morning.

Responders on Butler County’s emergency dispatch system said the man, who is 24 and otherwise healthy, was numb from his chest down.

The call was on Brenan Road in a wooded area between between Clearfield Township in Butler County and West Franklin Township in Armstrong County. The remote area has limited cellular telephone service.

Rescue Captain Phil Bauldoff of the Herman Volunteer Fire Company said the injured man was with at least one other person, who walked further down Brenan Road in order to call 911 for help.

In addition to Herman Fire Department, Kittaning Ambulance Service responded.

The man’s name was not immediately released.
