Freeport boys soccer still unbeaten

Bryce Hanby scored two goals and added an assist as Freeport remained unbeaten with a 4-0 win over Mount Pleasant.

Kevin Lynch also scored a pair of goals and Austin Uric had eight saves for the Yellowjackets (11-0-1, 10-0-1).

Knoch 2, Greensburg Salem 2 — Caleb Robb scored both goals for the Knights in this Section 1-AAA stalemate.

Mark Ciora and Matt Gore both had an assist for Knoch (6-7-2, 5-3-2).

North Allegheny 1, Butler 0 — The Golden Tornado (4-5-4, 1-5-3) suffered their fourth 1-0 loss of the season.

Girls Volleyball

Emily Archer tallied 15 kills and six digs, but Butler dropped a 3-1 decision at Shaler by scores of 25-13, 18-25, 19-25, 19-25.

Julia Gibson had 12 kills and three blocks for the Golden Tornado (4-5, 2-5).

Freeport 3, East Allegheny 0 — Courtney Grubbs had 10 points, two aces and 22 assists as the Yellowjackets (10-2, 8-0) rolled 25-10, 25-6, 25-8.

Hannah Connor added six kills and Mackenzie Jack and Lauren Lampus each had three kills.

Clarion 3, Union 0 — Hannah Atzeni had eight assists and eight digs, but the Damsels fell 25-7, 25-13, 25-14.

A-C Valley 3, Venango Catholic 0 — Sydney Rankin had 13 assists and 14 service points as the Falcons rolled 25-12, 25-7, 25-7.

Josey Terwilliger added six kills, Kylee Eaton eight points and seven kills and Olivia Boocks five kills for A-C Valley (9-1).

Grove City 3, Hickory 0 — Hannah Santom had 18 assists, seven kills and seven blocks as the Eagles swept the Hornets, 25-23, 25-19, 25-16.

Emma Rastatter had eight kills and nine blocks and Khalidah Muhammad had nine kills for Grove City.

Boys Golf

Scott Hangliter led five Seneca Valley golfers who shot sub-80 scores with a 74 in the Seneca Valley Invitational at Cranberry Highlands.

Central Catholic won with a score of 365.

Alex Lawson of Fox Chapel was the medalist with a 3-under 67.

Cross Country

Zach Leachman won the boys race for Mars with a time of 16:45, but Butler swept both the Planets and North Hills.

Noah Beveridge of Butler was second with a time of 16:54.

On the girls side, Butler's Maggie Welty placed first with a time of 19:04.
