Moniteau golfer in PIAA regional

Moniteau's Kennedy DeMatteis shot a 98 to place fourth overall and third in District 9 Class AA to advance to the PIAA Western regional championships.

Morgan VanLeer of Punxsutawney was the Class AA winner with a 90. Elyse Godding won the Class AAA crown with a 96.

Girls Volleyball

Frankee Remmich had six kills, nine digs and four aces as Union rolled to a 25-14, 25-11, 25-14 win.

Taylor Adams had 19 assists, five kills and two blocks and Bryn Davis six kills and four digs for the Damsels.

Seneca Valley 3, Bethel Park 0 — The Raiders (12-0) remained unbeaten with a 25-18, 25-16, 25-19 triumph at home.

Girls Soccer

Cameron Lindsay scored a pair of goals to lead Freeport to a 4-1 win over Valley.

Olivia Gaspersic and Sidney Shemanski also scored for the Yellowjackets (10-2, 9-0).

Pine-Richland 1, Butler 0 (OT) — The Rams scored with 10 seconds remaining in overtime to sink the Golden Tornado (8-4, 4-3).

On Saturday, Hannah Hays and Brittnie Spithaler scored for the Golden Tornado in 2-1 non-section win over Hampton.

Karns City 11, Keystone 0 — Megan McCartney scored four goals and Haley Scherer added three in the Gremlins' rout.

Collette Stahlman, Maura King, Breanna Tomsey and Makenna Lavella also scored for Karns City (12-0).

Franklin Regional 3, Knoch 2 (2OT) — Lindsie Galbreath scored both Knoch goals, but Franklin Regional scored the winning goal with four minutes remaining in the second overtime to sink the Knights.

Shiann Thomas and Maddie Albriatis had assists and Becca Stockert stopped seven shots in goal for Knoch (4-6-3).

Boys Soccer

Spenser Myers and Jace Ebbitt each found the net twice and Noah Pollock and Ryan Truax also scored to lead the Gremlins to a 5-0 win over Wilmington.

Jake Weckerly recorded the shutout for the Gremlins (11-0).

Hockey

Gregory Smith had 47 saves, but Freeport was routed by Franklin Regional, 7-0.

The Yellowjackets managed just four shots on goal.
