I have a huge problem with 12th District state Rep. Daryl Metcalfe. And he keeps getting voted back into office. He has been in office for 18 years. That is 18 years too many.

Please Google some of the ridiculous things this man wastes his time fighting for, few of which benefit any of us. He pushes his racist, anti-feminist and religious views on his constituents and most are not even aware of it. Turn on the news in Harrisburg and you will see him, and not for good reasons. Yet he is still in office.

Several years ago, I went to his office to ask for his support in passing a bill involving the removal of guns from the home of a perpetrator of domestic violence. The bill called for the weapons to be removed, but they could simply be given to a relative — not a perfect solution, but it was a start. I was the president of the board of directors of VOICe (Victim Outreach Intervention Center) and I was accompanied by the executive director at that time.

Metcalfe actually said: “women are a bunch of liars and just say they are abused so they can get more child support and keep the house.”

As a survivor myself, do you have any idea how degrading that statement was to me?

We finally have a truly excellent candidate running against this man. Please consider voting for Christian Rieger for our state representative.

It doesn’t matter what party you are registered with. Split your ticket and vote for the people who will actually earn their salary and benefits.
