Knoch still perfect

Volleyball team handles Mars; Butler girls golf tops Raiders

Sarah Armahizer had 22 kills as the Knoch volleyball team remained undefeated with a 25-20, 25-15, 18-25, 25-21 win over Mars.

Bethany Nulph added 11 kills and Abby Pospisil 11 points and eight kills for the Knights (9-0, 7-0).

Slippery Rock 3, Franklin 1 — Carlee McClymonds had 10 kills, 14 digs and five aces as the Rockets won 25-22, 15-25, 25-15, 25-20.

Lexi Romeo added five kills and 12 digs and Morgan Malinski 23 assists and three aces for Slippery Rock (2-7).

Freeport 3, Apollo-Ridge 0 — Lauren Lampus had five kills, 13 points and five aces for the Yellowjackets in a 25-6, 25-5, 25-8 win.

Maggie Ward added eight points and 10 assists for the Yellowjackets (8-1, 7-0).

Grove City 3, Sharon 0 — Macguire Gubba had 12 points, 12 assists and five kills and Alaina Cunningham 15 points as the Eagles swept the Tigers 25-6, 25-13, 25-8.

Ashley Jackson led Grove City in kills with seven.

Karns City 3, Forest Area 1 — Emily Hegedus had 14 service points and three kills for the Gremlins, who won this Wednesday match by scores of 25-6, 25-13, 24-26, 25-14.

Brooke Moore and Mackenzie Craig teamed for 14 assists while Brooke Snow, Makayla Waltman and Craig had three kills each.

Boys Golf

Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic sophomore Tre Bartony shot a 77 Thursday at the WPIAL Class AA Individual Championships to finish tied for eighth and advance to the PIAA Western individual qualifying round Oct. 17.

Freeport's Morgan Penn shot an 86 and Denny Wuyscik an 88. Both failed to advance.

Grove City 179, Slippery Rock 190 — Kyle Shingledecker fired a 39 as Grove City downed Slippery Rock 179-190.

Will Allison and Ryan Dorrier both shot a 44 to lead the Rockets.

Behind 39s by Hannah Folk and Liz Rakers, Butler downed Seneca Valley, 169-180.

Kennedy Johnston was the medalist for Seneca Valley with a 38.
