Renwick receives honor for work

CENTER TWP — A Butler native who is the executive director of Newhaven Court at Clearview has been named the Pennsylvania Health Care Association’s Assisted Living/Personal Care Executive Director of the Year.

Gary Renwick, 38, received the honor, called a Hero Award, on Tuesday at the association’s annual convention in Lancaster County.

Renwick became the executive director of the facility in 2014, after holding a number of positions at the facility, including activities director and manager of the business office, the company said in a press release announcing the award.

He was selected from a pool of more than 100 nominations, and is one of seven Pennsylvania health care professionals honored for their work with senior citizens.

Renwick graduated from Slippery Rock University and began his career working with senior living communities in 1999, when he served as a resident care assistant at Newhaven.

He held a number of positions in the industry for the next 17 years before returning to Butler to take over at Newhaven Court, where the company said his leadership has resulted in “remarkable improvement” in satisfaction ratings among residents and staff members.
