William L. Csonka

William L. Csonka

William L. Csonka, 91, of West Leechburg passed away Sept. 20 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

A son of the late Joseph A. Csonka and Elizabeth Dobos Csonka, he was born in Georgetown, Armstrong County.

William was employed as a roller on No. 2 United in the Cold Mill Department of the Allegheny Ludlum West Leechburg Works for 44 years before retiring in 1988.

He was a member of Christ the King Parish in Gilpin Township, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a life member of the Parks Township Sportsman's Club.

During World War II, William served in the U.S. Air Force with the 385th Bomb Group as a radio operator in a B-17 Bomber.

William enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He had been a Boy Scout leader of Troop 505 and also a Little League coach.

Survivors include four children, William R. (Kathleen) Csonka of West Leechburg, Pa., David J. (Susan) Csonka of Allison Park, Debra J. (Thomas) Nigra of Pittsburgh and James M. (Kim) Csonka of Cabot; nine grandchildren, Nathan, Meghan, Elaine, Benjamin, Peter, Daniel, Anne, Emily and Sarah; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Albert J. Csonka of Gilpin Township, Pa.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jeanne Mosser Csonka on Sept. 15, 2000; one infant daughter; three brothers, Joseph, Paul E. and Frank Csonka; and two sisters, Elizabeth George and Theresa Morey.

Csonka, who died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, will be welcomed by his family from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ the King Parish, 125 Park Road, Gilpin Township, with the Rev. Raphael Glinkowski, O.S.P.P.E., officiating. Interment will follow at St. Catherine Cemetery, 614 Evergreen Road, Gilpin Township, with military rites conducted by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trout Unlimited, 1777 N.
