Hilda M. McBride

Hilda M. Wilt McBride, 88, of Harrisville went to be with her Lord at 10:50 p.m. Thursday at the Grove City Medical Center.

Hilda was born June 20, 1928, in Franklin, and she was the daughter of Lloyd and Treasure Wilt. She lived her early years throughout the Franklin and Oakhill areas.

Hilda married Everett McBride Sr. on Aug. 12, 1950, and they celebrated 56 years of marriage before he died March 25, 2007. Together they raised five children.

Hilda was a woman who had a strong faith in the Lord; she was a past member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Nectarine. She loved to sing gospel songs and also played the harmonica in her earlier years. She raised her children to have a relationship with the Lord and was a steadfast mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family.

Hilda loved to be out and about visiting friends and family and doing a little shopping. She kept her kitchen well-stocked with all her canned foods she would prepare from her summer gardens. Hilda’s kitchen was a busy place preparing meals, baked goods and treats for her family.

Loved ones left to treasure her memory are her children, Lonny L. McBride and his wife, Nina, of Grove City; Phillip N. McBride of Franklin; Sally M. Mahood of Virginia; and Jody S. McBride and his wife, Vickie, of Clintonville. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Phillip Donald McBride and his wife, Teresa, of Strattenville, Pa., Mrs. Jennifer R. Rupp and her husband, Joshua, of Shippenville, Pa., Michael J. McBride and his wife, Rebecca, of Indianapolis, Ind., Tiffany L. MacDonald and her husband, Gary, of North Carolina, Melissa Duffie and her husband, Sean, of Stafford, Va., Mark A. McBride of Harrisville and Tabitha J. Brundage and her husband, Steve, of Franklin; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Ester A. Vogan and her husband, Richard, of Harrisville, Joyce Stevens and her husband, Calvin, of Sagertown, Pa., and Audine Wilt of Sugarcreek, Pa.; two brothers-in-law, William McBride and his wife, Carol, of Harrisville and Victor McBride and his wife, Barbara, of New York; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Hilda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Everett McBride Jr. on June 4, 1972; her grandson, Corey McBride; her son-in-law, Kevin Mahood; three brothers; four sisters; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Hilda was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

MCBRIDE — The family of Hilda M. Wilt McBride, who died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday with the funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. at the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville, with the Rev. Roy Tilton officiating.

Interment will take place at the Peters Chapel Cemetery.
