Fire damages two mobile homes

BRADYS BEND TWP, Armstrong County — No one was hurt in a blaze that damaged two mobile homes on the 700-block of Kaylor-Petrolia Road late Tuesday morning, and emergency responders say a state police fire marshal has been called in to assess the incident.

James Hillwig, the chief of Sugar Creek Volunteer Fire Department, said firefighters arrived at 742 Kaylor-Petrolia Road shortly after the fire was reported around 11 a.m.

Hillwig said when his company arrived one of the mobile homes on the property, was “fully involved” and catching a second mobile home on fire.

Hillwig said firefighters determined no one was home at the time, because there was no working vehicle at the property. Officials are still, however, trying to verify the homeowner's identity and contact them.

Hillwig said a cause of the fire was undetermined and a fire marshal had been called in to investigate. He was expected to arrive on scene sometime this afternoon.

The blaze, which Hillwig said involved one trailer that appeared to have been used mainly for storage, and another which was apparently being lived in, drew firefighters from six different fire companies from Armstrong and Butler counties.
