SR gets wild win

Baxa goal nets 5-4 victory: Freeport, SV stay unbeaten

Chase Baxa scored his second goal and game-winner with four minutes remaining as the Slippery Rock boys soccer team earned a wild 5-4 win Tuesday over Commodore Perry.

Nick Stutz, Ryan Davey and Chase Gill also scored for the Rockets (5-2, 3-0).

Freeport 7, Derry 0 — Bryce Hanby, Seth Davis and Kevin Lynch each scored two goals and added an assist in the rout by the Yellowjackets (6-0, 5-0).

Hunter Hardin also scored for Freeport.

Seneca Valley 3, Pine-Richland 0 — Matthew Happ scored twice and Louis Newell once for the Raiders (6-0-1, 3-0-1).

Dylan Good earned the shutout with four saves.

Knoch 1, Indiana 0 — Caleb Robb scored for the Knights (2-6-1, 2-2-1) while Andy Pipes was in net for the shutout.

Cross Country

Noah Beveridge and Maggie Welty placed first for Butler, but Seneca Valley swept both Butler and Pine-Richland in both boys and girls meets.

Allison DeJidas totaled six kills and three blocks as Freeport swept Derry 25-18, 25-20 and 25-19.

Haley Graham contributed five kills and three blocks, Hannah Mason nine service points and five kills and Jenna Manke four kills for the Yellowjackets (5-1, 5-0).

Seneca Valley 3, North Allegheny 1 — The Raiders toppled the section rival Tigers.

Jesse Jack and Alley Kerkan each added 11 service points for Knoch (6-0, 5-0).

Pine-Richland 3, Butler 0 — The Golden Tornado fell by scores of 25-10, 25-15 and 25-23.

Caitlyn Martin paced Butler with nine kills and 11 digs and Maria Lucas added 24 digs.

Union 3, Keystone 0 — Taylor Adams had six kills, two aces and three blocks as the Damsels won 25-16, 25-8, 25-22.

Hannah Atzeni added 17 assists for Union.

Cranberry 3, Karns City 0 — Brooke Moore had 10 assists and Claudia Kamenski added five kills but the Gremlins were swept 25-17, 25-22, 25-20.

The Karns City JV team won, 2-0.

Grove City 3, West Middlesex 1 — Ashley Jackson had 10 kills and nine blocks as the Eagles churned out a 25-19, 25-9, 20-25, 25-15 win.

Macguire Gubba added 17 assists, 17 points and six kill for Grove City.

Girls Tennis

Sydney Adams, Morgan Hiles and Kaitlyn Anderson all won their singles matches as Grove City swept Franklin 5-0.
