Lucy M. Blozen

Lucy M. Blozen, 93, of Mars passed away peacefully Sunday at the VA Medical Center in Butler surrounded by her loving family.

Lucy was a sergeant in the Women's U.S. Army Corps, having served in World War II from 1943 to 1946. She had worked for many years as a secretary and teacher in a parochial school in Brooklyn, N.Y.

She was an amazing woman and was very loved by her family and friends.

Lucy was predeceased by her husband, John Blozen; her sister, Anne Mastria; and her brother, Gerald Ackerman.

She is survived by her son, David J. (Janice) Blozen of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two daughters, Susan DeRiso of Mars and Carol (James) Gipson of Lake George, N.Y.; two brothers, William (Marion) Ackerman of Iselin; four sisters, Rita Policastro of Toms River, N.J., Johanna Mele of Little Egg Harbor, N.J., Antoinette Craven of Keyport, N.J., and Patricia Uhrig of Newark, N.J.; her dear friend, Phyllis Grasser of Mars; four grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

BLOZEN — Visiting hours for Lucy M. Blozen, who died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016, will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River, N.J.A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Maximilian Kolbe Roman Catholic Church, Toms River.
