Butler Twp Police2:08 p.m. Saturday — Martin D. Hoover, 47, of Chicora was caught with suspected drug contraband following a traffic stop on Hansen Avenue.Police charged Hoover with possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license-DUI related, and driving with an expired inspection sticker.9:03 a.m. Friday — Kaylaa S. Chupka, 29, of Butler was found allegedly under the influence of drugs while seated on a bench at the parking lot of the Comfort Inn on Route 8 south. Police charged Chupka with possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness.

State Police, ButlerMonday — An Apple iPod Touch was stolen from a trailer at Moraine Camplands on Staff Road in Brady Township. The property, owned by a 52-year-old woman from Duquesne, Allegheny County, was stolen between 10 a.m. and noon.A police report said the investigation continues but it did not indicate if there are any suspects.Monday — Police reported that charges are pending against a 27-year-old Seven Fields woman stemming from a Sept. 11 paint ball violation on Zoelle Lane in Forward Township. Police did not identify the suspect or the victim, a 17-year-old Evans City boy.Charges were not immediately filed and a police report did not detail the circumstances of the case.2:10 a.m. Saturday — Joshua A. Synan, 21, of Verona, Allegheny County was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol at West Cooper and South Main streets in Slippery Rock.

Petrolia VFD5:45 a.m. today — Firefighters were called to clear a large tree that was blocking traffic on Petrolia-Queenstown Road in Perry Township, Armstrong County.No one was injured when the dead tree fell onto the road, pulling down live power lines and telephone wires, said Chuck Barnes, chief of the Petrolia Volunteer Fire Department.A Central Electric Cooperative crew was quickly on scene to replace the utility pole and power lines. A Century crew was also called to repair the telephone cables.East Brady volunteer firefighters assisted the Petrolia VFD.

State Police, KittanningMonday — Police reported that a Worthington woman is suspected in a case of child abuse in August. The investigation is continuing and no charges have been filed.The 18-year-old suspect, who police did not identify, was baby-sitting the 1-year-old boy victim, who suffered apparent minor to moderate injuries.Police said the infant’s mother, who lives in Kittanning, picked up her child from the teen’s home Aug. 22 and noticed markings on the boy’s face after she got home. The infant had a handprint on his face and bruises around the eyes.Additionally, according to a police report, he had “extreme swelling and redness” all over his face and on his head.Anyone with information about the case is asked to call police at 724-542-2011.Thursday — An unknown vandal badly damaged a car that was left on the side of a road in East Franklin Township. The owner, a 58-year-old woman from Sharpsburg, Allegheny County, parked her Chevrolet Cavalier on the 200 block of Johns Road because it had a flat tire.While the car was unattended, according to a police report, someone struck the windshield with a Phillips head screwdriver several items and struck the hood with a hammer.The vandal also threw two rocks through the passenger’s side window, damaged the taillights and jumped on the roof. Anyone with information is asked to call police.4:10 p.m. Sept. 12 — Jennifer Spencer, 43, of Grove City was caught shoplifting at the Walmart in Pine Township, Mercer County. She is charged with retail theft.

State Police, MercerTuesday — A jewelry box and Ruger .30-06 rifle were stolen overnight Monday from a home on the 300 block of Millbrook Road, Jackson Township, Mercer County. A police report did not indicate if there are any suspects.
