Tornado top North Hills in volleyball

Butler spikers win 3rd straight; Freeport soccer also unbeaten

Caitlyn Martin had 10 kills and 16 digs as the Butler girls volleyball team swept North Hills 25-21, 31-29, 25-12 to remain undefeated and pick up its first section win of the season Tuesday night.

Tabitha Walker added 25 assists for the Golden Tornado (3-0, 1-0).

Knoch 3, Lincoln Park 0 — Sarah Armahizer had eight kills as the Knights rolled to a 25-6, 25-16, 25-14 win.

Abby Pospisil added 14 points and Alley Kerkan 13 points for Knoch (4-0, 3-0).

A-C Valley 3, Moniteau 0 — Jaleigh Seigal had 13 points, seven aces and 14 digs as the Falcons swept the Warriors 25-11, 25-2, 25-18.

Emily Wetzel added 29 assists and Sydney Rankin pitched in 15 points, four aces, nine digs and 27 assists for A-C Valley (3-0).

Boys Golf

Cody Killian shot a 36 to lead five Mars golfers who shot 40 or below in a 192-209 win over Freeport.

Mike Chahoy led Freeport with a 40.

Boys Soccer

Bryce Hanby scored a pair of goals and added three assists as Freeport rolled to a 10-1 win over Valley.

Cole Bennick and Hunter Hardin also found the net twice for the Yellowjackets (4-0, 3-0).

Deer Lakes 4, Knoch 0 — The Knights (0-5-1) were blanked.

Karns City 11, Forest 2 — Spenser Myers and Noah Pollock each scored three goals and Jace Ebbitt added two goals and four assists in the Gremlins' rout.

Seneca Valley 1, North Allegheny 1 (2OT) — Matt Stopar's goal in the second half off an assist from Matt Happ pulled the Raiders (3-0-1, 0-0-1) even with the Tigers.

Cross Country

Johnathan Asay finished with a time of 19 minutes, 32 seconds to place first and lift Freeport to the narrowest of wins over Greensburg Central Catholic, 27-28.

Freeport also downed Burrell 18-43.

On the girls side, Lurena Stewart was second with a time of 25:38 to lead the Yellowjackets to a pair of wins over GCC and Burrell.
