Myers nets pair in soccer win vs. Grove City

Spenser Myers scored a pair of goals as the Karns City boys soccer team edged Grove City 4-2 Monday afternoon.

Jace Ebbitt and Noah Pollock also scored for the Gremlins (3-0). Pollock added an assist.

Girls Soccer

Alyssa Lapusnak scored three minutes into overtime to give Butler a 1-0 win over Shaler.

The Golden Tornado are now 3-0 heading into a big section matchup with Pine-Richland at home Wednesday.

Seneca Valley 2, North Allegheny 1 — Julia Redilla scored the game-winner for the Raiders with 28 seconds left.

Karns City 6, Redbank Valley 0 — Megan McCartney tallied two goals and Alexis Moore had one goal and one assist to pace Karns City.

Also scoring for the Gremlins (3-0) were Hunter Dittman, Alexis Fennell and Chelsey Dodds.

Gateway 3, Knoch 0 — The Knights were blanked and fell to 1-1-2.

Mars 15, McKeesport 0 — Tori Kopchak and Katrina Johansson led the Planets' onslaught with two goals apiece.

Freeport 4, Valley 0 — Sydney Shemanski scored two goals to lead the Yellowjackets.

Abby Bastaja and Olivia Gaspersic also scored for Freeport.

Cassie Suran stopped five shots in goal and Piper Claypool, Cameron Lindsay, Bastaja and Shemanski had assists.

Boys Golf

Tanner Hill, T.J. Pascucci and Mike Chahoy each shot a 43 as the consistent Yellowjackets downed Riverview 217-255.

Denny Wuyscik and Morgan Penn each shot a 44 for Freeport (10-1, 8-0).

Region 5 Megamatch — Kyle Stephenson carded an 85 to lead Slippery Rock at Oakview Golf Club. Chad Green added a 94.

The Rockets placed fourth out of six teams with 385 strokes. Franklin won with a 337.

Seneca Valley 187, North Hills 215 — Zach Brown fired a 35 to lead the Raiders to this win at Cranberry Highlands Golf Course.

Adam Bushee (36), Scott Hangliter (37) and Paul Lopiccolo (38) also managed sub-40 scores for SV (7-1).

Girls Volleyball

Sarah Armahizer had 15 kills and Abby Pospisil added 12 kills and 13 service points as Knoch survived a five-set decision over Avonworth, 25-17, 23-25, 25-21, 12-25, 15-11.

Carly Bozzo added 30 digs for the Knights (3-0).

North Clarion 3, Union 1 — After winning the first game 25-19, the Damsels fell to the Wolves in three straight 25-23 contests.

Frankee Remmick had nine kills and 12 digs for Union, Hannah Atzeni 22 digs and 17 assists, Bryn Davis five kills and 11 digs.

Girls Tennis

Mars swept the singles matches behind wins by Erica Wojcikiewicz, Amelia Haley and Sophia Beltran to topple Butler, 3-2.

The doubles tandems of Mercedes Belch-Jenna Kunst and Jill Ford-Andrea Malacaman picked up wins for the Golden Tornado.
